Ten years later it commands a respectable in-game industrial capacity of 223 units, used to create pretty much everything in the game, from railways, ports, and factories to small arms, tanks, battleships, and atom bombs. The Soviet Union set out to intentionally expand its military-industrial potential as rapidly as possible at the end of 1925 under the Frunze Plan. Generally speaking Soviet industry and resources can be divided between those in Ukraine, which are highly vulnerable to German attack (though I had a Polish-British alliance come after it once ), the manufacturing centers around Moscow and oil extraction in the Caucasus, which are somewhat vulnerable, and those around the Urals or Central Asia, which are mostly safe (though as I found out in the incident with Britain, some of the enterprises in Central Asia lie within the range of India-based British bombers). Pretty much everything worth having in the USSR is in one of those little green or blue regions, though there are a few undeveloped raw resource tiles that don't show up at this level of zoom. But of course, all that space is also mostly empty, as a look at the infrastructure and resource maps show:Д®ast of Gorkiy pretty much all the development is along the Trans-Siberian railroad, with the only real exception being the large resource-extraction developments in Central Asia (the yellow bit above Afghanistan). The rest of Europe could get lost wandering around in Siberia. The USSR is, for anyone who missed history class, huge. So the year is 1936 (the only start year Black Ice allows) and we look like this: I don't know much about the game beyond what I've deduced myself so if any experts see glaring errors please do correct me. This post will cover the strategic situation and some gameplay theory. I've already played a few years on them in a couple earlier games, so while there will probably be none of the hilarious fun of me getting blindsided by events and triggers for the first part of the game, there will also not be any of the 'hilarious fun' of me having to restart because I don't understand the mod. In a groundbreaking moment of free-thinking ingenuity I've decided to play the Soviet Union.

This isn't intended to be play-by-vote though suggestions will be taken under consideration! Also I'm assuming a reader unfamiliar with Hearts of Iron and doing a fair bit of explanation, so apologies to anyone who already knows all this for the lengthy posts.ДЄnyway rather than fully review the mod to start with I think I'm going to just bring up aspects as they become salient, though with all the start-of-game decisions that get made a lot of it's probably going to be discussed early on anyway. This will be my first-ever LP too but I've been talking over my play a lot with the friend who encouraged me to try it so I thought I'd try documenting the experience a bit. So I've recently found my interest in Hearts of Iron 3 renewed and picked up the Black Ice mod to mix things up.
